A CHILDREN’S home has received a helping hand from the Prince’s Trust.
The Leigh Prince’s Trust team decided to help the Gregory Avenue Children’s Home as part of a 12 week personal development programme.
The project was proposed by team member Kalom Sergean, a former resident of the home, and saw the team tidy up the garden and paint a summerhouse at the home.
Kalom said: “I was really proud to have my choice of project taken up. It was a great opportunity to work and help Gregory Avenue, especially after living there.”
The Leigh team is run by the environmental regeneration charity Groundwork and carries out a project to help the community as part of a programme that will see them gain work experience, valuable qualifications and practical skills.
Linda Shoosmith, the manager of the home, said: “It’s been excellent and really well organised. The team respected the rules that we need as a children’s home. They weren’t intrusive and our residents have enjoyed them being here. It’s a really big thank you to them all - especially Kalom.”
