THEY were handed their marching orders by Bents Garden Centre earlier this month but the team at Wild Wings Birds of Prey Education and Rehabilitation Centre are hoping their luck might be changing.

Although the future is still uncertain for the rescue centre, they have been offered a piece of land in Culcheth by Paul Taylor from Tayor Business Park.

Vicki Barton, trainee falconer at the rescue and rehabilitation centre, said: “It is all still up in the air and nothing is definite but we are hoping to get everything sorted soon.

“We have had offers from all over the country even some in Warwick but we would like to stay local and the offer from Paul is looking as our favourite.”

The not for profit organisation was told on April 2 to stop trading at its current location by April 13 and to move out of the facility by April 30 after the team was served with an eviction notice.

Bents has since relaxed its orders but Wild Wings are still being asked to vacate the premises as soon as possible.

Following the generous offer of land, the team is now looking into designing the new aviary and applying for planning permission.

Vicki added: “Our main concern is the rescue birds and making sure the move is as smooth as possible. We are just trying to not let it get on top of us and stay positive.”

While the move has yet to be finalised, the team is still in need of generous donations to get the new aviary built as quickly as possible.

“We invested all our money into the move to Bents. We do not have a pot of money available to us,” she added.

To promote the work of the rescue centre and to showcase some of its feathered stars, Ovenu Warrington have worked closely with Wild Wings to produce a 15 minute documentary, which will be released on May 16.
