A SCHOOL brought its community together to celebrate its 50th birthday.
Fred Longworth High School held a Community Fun Day on Monday as part of its Golden Anniversary celebrations.
Alex Gallimore, director of business and finance at the school, said: “The day was a huge success with hundreds of visitors enjoying some great live performances.
“Our year teams ran stalls to raise money for their end of year proms, school resources including a second defibrillator and a variety of charities.
“Perhaps the most spectacular part of the day was an appearance from the Police helicopter from NPAS Barton that attracted a lot of attention and has provided us with some amazing aerial shots of the event.”
The Tyldesley school is holding a charity football match on July 12 when a school team will take on a ‘celebrity’ team including soap and TV stars to raise money for Manchester Children’s Hospital.
