A COUPLE from the Three Towns Operatic Society staged their own show — when they got married.
Musical Director, Rod Dakin married society member Lorraine Preston at St Aidan’s Church, Billinge, Wigan.
Rod has been Musical Director to the society for nearly twenty years.
The pair met at the the Society four years ago. Lorraine has taken some principal parts and sings with the chorus.
Members of the Society sang at the wedding ceremony including hits Georgie Girl, Lullaby of Broadway and the Anthem from Chess.
And it is not the only wedding among society members. Today Allan Witter and Viv Warbis will marry in the Lake District.
Meanwhile other members are in final rehearsal for their Autumn Concert on Friday and Saturday, November 20 and 21 at The Rose Centre, formerly Lowton Civic Hall, Lowton. It will be an evening of Songs from the Shows, Broadway, Popular and Classical Music.
The concert starts at 7.30pm. Tickets at £10 from 01942 883722.
