A FATHER and his eight-year-old daughter were left terrified by carjackers who threatened them with a hammer outside the family home.

The hooded robbers struck at a driveway on Atherton Road, Hindley Green.

The 30-year-old dad and his daughter had just parked their car when they were targeted.

One of the men threatened the victims with a hammer and demanded keys to the car.

They then drove off in the car along Atherton Road, heading in the general direction of Leigh.

Kevin James, police constable from GMP’s Wigan division, said: “This was a terrifying attack on a father and his child on the driveway of their family home and at this stage we believe it was an unprovoked and isolated incident.

“I would like to reassure the public that we are doing everything we can to identify those responsible for committing this violent crime and bring them to justice."

The vehicle stolen is a silver Honda Civic and the registration number is – SC05 OYR with the words ‘DARCY LOU’ inscribed on the rear of the car.

The two offenders are described as white men between 5ft 10in and 6ft tall and in their late 20s to early 30s.

They were both wearing dark coloured clothing with their hoods pulled up.

The crime happened at 7.40pm on Wednesday, March 16.

Constable James added: “I would like to appeal for any witnesses to come forward who may have been in the area at the time and witnessed the two men or the silver Honda Civic.
