LEIGH Ornithological Society is holding an open day next Saturday following the success of last year's well-attended event.
Held on the first floor of Leigh Library from 11am to 3pm, there will be displays and stalls from the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds, British Trust for Ornithology, Wildlife Trust for Lancashire, Super Swifts and Lowton Hedgehog Rescue as well as conservation and friends’ groups such as Low Hall, Lilford Park and Amberswood.
There will also be projected displays by several photographers and a range of second-hand birding and other books and some bird food on sale.
Admission is free and everyone is welcome to attend.
Leigh MP Andy Burnham and the mayor and mayoress of the Wigan borough, Cllr Ron Conway and his wife Janet, are set to be there.
