A LEIGH motorist who was almost two-and-a-half times over the drink drive limit has been given a two-year ban.
John Darbyshire, of Abbey Lane, was driving a vehicle on Carr Bank Street, Atherton, on July 24 after drinking so much that he had 211mg of alcohol in 100ml of blood.
The legal limit is 80mg.
The 65-year-old pleaded guilty to drink driving at Wigan and Leigh Magistrates' Court last Wednesday.
Magistrates disqualified him from driving for two years and ordered him to pay a £180 fine, a £30 victim surcharge and prosecution costs of £85.
