THESE are the faces of 13 criminals who were sent to prison in October.
Ricardas Jonusas was jailed for life and told he will spend at least 15 years behind bars after he admitted murdering pal, fellow Lithuanian Laurimas Rusanov in a jealous rage. Jonusas was envious of his friend’s relationship and stabbed him to death at a party before fleeing the flat and boasting about what he had done.
Barry Lomax, aged 27, raided an old people’s home and stole a television and ornaments from the communal lounge. Lomax, of Longfield Road, Bolton, was jailed for 18 months after pleading guilty to burglary.
Two men were forced to leap over a fence to escape Callum Hope as he drove at them in a BMW X5 in Bolton. Hope, aged 28, of Queen Street, Little Hulton, pleaded guilty to dangerous driving and possessing cannabis and also admitted offences, committed on other occasions, of causing GBH to his girlfriend and stalking a woman whose partner, he claimed, owed him £300. He was sentenced to 30 months in prison.
Paedophile David Graham was jailed for 30 months after a phone he had hidden rang when police paid him a routine visit. Thousands of indecent images of children were found on the mobile and other devices 58-year-old Graham had secreted at his Etherstone Road, Leigh, home.
Drunken Gary Smith burst into a family’s home, pulled out a knife and threatened to firebomb the house. Smith, aged 58, of Netherfield Road, Bolton, pleaded guilty to making threats to destroy property, assault and possessing a knife and was jailed for 27 months.
After a drug deal went wrong Shaun Ward swerved his car from side in a bid to shake off father-of-one Joss McCaughtrie, who clung to the vehicle. Mr McCaughtrie was hurled against a fence and died from his injuries. Ward, aged 23, of no fixed address, was sentenced to seven years and two months in prison after pleading guilty to causing death by dangerous driving in addition to possessing a machete, a metal bar and a knife.
Steven Taylor, aged 49, of no fixed address, was jailed for 14 days after he failed to keep probation appointments. Magistrates were told he has a “flagrant disregard” for court orders.
Thomas Smethust, aged 20, was sentenced to two years in prison after admitting causing grievous bodily harm to a teenage boy and actual bodily harm to the boy's uncle who had gone in search of a group of youths who had been shoplifting from their convenience store. Smethurst, of Hawthorne Road, Bolton, smashed the 14-year-old boy over the head with a bottle.
Child abuser Colin Cambrey was jailed for six years after luring a girl to his Carnation Road, Farnworth, home on the pretext of uploading Playstation games for her. Once there, 51-year-old Cambrey sexually assaulted her.
Prolific thief William Steele growled at and bit a man who caught him burgling his outbuilding. Steele, aged 33, of Duke Street, Bolton, pleaded guilty to burglary and causing actual bodily harm.
Albanian Refit Xhaxho is one of an increasing number of illegal immigrants being trafficked to the UK to work as gardeners in cannabis farms. Xhaxho, aged 43, of Tavistock Road, Deane, was jailed for 14 months after police raided the property and found it packed with 200 plants.
Daniel Kirkman robbed a betting shop in flip flops just days after he set fire to his Sefton Court, Halliwell flat, causing neighbours to be evacuated. Kirkman, aged 30, was sentenced to four years and eight months in prison.
Karl Gill hacked a neighbour’s door and threatened to kill him after they had spent the evening drinking together. Gill, aged 34, of Thornbank West, was jailed for 12 months and John Campbell, aged 41, who was with him, received a seven month sentence. Gill pleaded guilty to affray and possessing a bladed article and Campbell to affray.
