One man has been taken to hospital after being rescued from a burning property in Bolton.

Fire crews were called from Bolton Central, Horwich and Farnworth fire stations were called to a property on Wyresdale Road, at around 5pm today, Saturday, following reports of a fire.

Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) reported that one man has rescued from the property and treated at the scene before being taken to hospital.

Three fire engines attended the scene on the street which is close to Chorley New Road.

Residents on the street reported seeing an air ambulance landing at the scene and the Bolton News understands the helicopters stayed at the scene for around five minutes.

Eyewitnesses also reported the presence of police.

One resident said: “Our windows rattled as the helicopter flew over our house, we are only a few streets away, then I saw it flying up above the houses so i knew it had landed."

In a statement, A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said: “Just before 5pm this evening (Saturday 3rd June), three fire engines from Bolton central, Horwich and Farnworth fire station were called to reports of a building fire involving a property on Wyresdale Road, Bolton.

“Crews arrived quickly at scene. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatuses used two hose reels to extinguish the fire.

“One man was rescued from the property and treated by a fire service trauma technician at the scene, before they were taken to hospital by colleagues from North West Ambulance Service."

Greater Manchester Police and North West Ambulance Service have been contacted for comment.
