The Bolton Mountain Rescue team was called in the early hours of this morning to help a man who had fallen in a park in the town.

The call came in from the North West Ambulance Service requesting assistance to help a man in Haslam Park.

The rescue team was there by 3am and went towards the last known position of the casualty.

They were helped by police from a different direction and found the man who was conscious but cold.

He was taken back to the rendezvous point in the park and assessed by team members at the rescue service.

He was then handed over to paramedics.

In February this year the rescue team assisted the ambulance help a man in Rivington.

The previous month it carried out a rescue in Pendle Hill.

The group received a fundraising boost of more than £3,000 from Turton Young Farmers in January.

A spokesperson for the rescue team said: "At 02:41 this morning the team was contacted by North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust who were requesting our assistance to locate a male, believed to be unconcious after a fall, in the vicinity of Haslam Park, Bolton.

"The first team members were on scene at 03:02 and set off on foot with the NWAS crew towards the last known position of the casualty.

"At the same time officers from Greater Manchester Police approached the same position (from a different direction) and fortunately located the male, now conscious but cold.

"The male was conveyed back to the Haslam Park RVP by police where he was initially assessed by our team members and then handed over to the NWAS crew.

"The team was on the scene for 90 minutes."
