A yellow weather warning for rain has been issued for Bolton today by the Met Office as downpours continue.

Bolton has been dealing with wet weather for the past week and it is set to continue after The Met Office issued a yellow rain warning.

With highs of 12 degrees set to be reached during the day on Saturday, Bolton will experience heavy rain from 4pm this afternoon until the early hours of Sunday morning.

Meanwhile Sunday looks to be the first break from wet weather as it will remain dry but with dark clouds.

The Met Office states for today: “A cloudy day with some drizzle or light showers and mist at times, especially around coasts and over hills.

“Perhaps a few brighter interludes into the afternoon alongside a strengthening breeze. Another mild day on offer. Maximum temperature 13 °C.

“Drizzly skies will soon be replaced by outbreaks of heavy rain this evening.

All of England and Wales is covered by yellow Met Office rain alerts lasting from Saturday afternoon to Sunday evening.

They warn of possible flooding, travel disruption and power cuts, with as much as 40mm of rain set to fall on already saturated ground after downpours earlier in the week.

However, temperatures will hit highs of 14 to 15C, five degrees higher than average for the time of year, amid a mild spell in the country due to winds coming from the south.

Met Office forecaster Craig Snell said: “The ground is already a little bit more saturated across England and Wales compared to Scotland and Northern Ireland, so they’ll be a little more sensitive to the rainfall.
