FLORENCE Brandwood, well-known as a loyal Bolton Wanderers fan and a long-serving scorer at Heaton Cricket Club, has died, aged 90.
Mrs Brandwood was a life-long Whites supporter and worked tirelessly in the Bolton Cricket League for many years.
In 2007, she was awarded a trophy by the Barclays Premier League for her devotion to Wanderers, which had seen her take in more than 3,500 games to that point.
Mrs Brandwood, from Astley Bridge, attended her first game alongside her brother in 1938 and rarely missed a chance to see her team.
Tributes have poured in from around the town’s sporting fraternity, including ex-Heaton man Ronnie Irani, who went on to have a hugely successful cricketing career with Lancashire, Essex and England.
He tweeted on his official account: "Local to Bolton League Cricket is sad. News avid Heaton Cricket Club scorer & huge Wanderers fan Florence Brandwood has passed away. RIP."
