A BINGO hall in Breightmet was stormed by armed robbers, according to terrified witnesses.
Hundreds of players were inside Mecca Bingo in Breightmet Fold Lane when they heard a loud bang in the foyer at about 7pm.
One player, who wanted to remain anonymous, said: "We heard a really loud bang and a scuffle.
"I don't what the bang was but we all heard it. There were police everywhere.
"No one knew what was going on. We were told to wait inside.
"Sunday's the busiest night here. It's absolutely packed."
Police insist no gunshots were fired and no one was hurt.
A police spokesman said: "The only thing we can confirm is that no gunshots were fired. We cannot comment any further at this stage."
It is not the first time Mecca Bingo Breightmet has been targeted by robbers.
In October 2012, two men armed with a handgun and a knife demanded cash from staff.
People inside the hall have been told they can leave via a side entrance.
A member of staff was treated for shock by paramedics on the scene.
Play has now resumed.
