AN actor from Deane is asking members of the public to help him find out if Bolton’s “got soul”.

Phil Jackson, who has appeared in TV shows such as Emmerdale, Scott and Bailey, and Coronation Street, along with his colleague Lee Bolton, who works at Elerby Studios in Breightmet, hopes to prove that the town has got soul in abundance at a special filming project.

Those who are interested in getting involved in the event, which includes learning simple dance steps, do not need to have any dance experience.

The project, which is being supported by Bolton FM and will be filmed professionally, will see local Thai boxer Sandy Holt and dancers Belinda and Melinda get the crowd warmed up.

People who would like to get involved are being invited to The Market Place at 8pm this Thursday, meeting at the loading bay opposite Argos.

Mr Jackson said: “We’re basically trying to see whether Bolton’s got soul. It’s been a bit quiet around here recently and we want to change that.

"We don’t want to give too much away yet — just that we want as many people as we can get to come and get involved. It doesn’t matter what age, shape and size you are.

“All it involves is three simple dance steps, so don’t worry about being perfect.

“We just want people to come and enjoy themselves.”
