A THEATRE group has revealed its new season will kick off with a comedy in September.

Tyldesley Little Theatre received a boost ahead of the 2014/15 announcement as members scooped runner-up accolades at the recent Greater Manchester Drama Federation (GMDF) awards dinner.

Nods were given to three productions — Humble Boy, directed by Paul Ward; Dick Whittington, directed by Andrew Sutton and Garth Waddup and A Piece of Cake, directed by Ian Taylor.

The directors all received runner-up certificates, as did Karen Ward, Alana Howarth-Lees and Ian, for their acting.

Ian said: “Buoyed by this success, TLT presents a new season, running from September 2014 to May 2015, that sees all of these successful directors and actors return to the Lemon Street stage, as well as other long-established directors and a host of acting talent.”

The new season will begin on September 30 with Out of Focus, by Peter Gordon.

Directed by Jenny Whur, it is set in the annex of a church hall, where a series of over-bookings have occurred, setting the scene for comic confusion.

This year’s Christmas show will be The Snow Queen, by Alan P Frayn, which runs from November 29 to December 6.

TLT’s recently successful pantomime directors, Andrew and Garth, will join forces with Ian, the group’s most prolific panto director, to deliver the usual popular mix of song, dance, comedy and silliness.
Next up will be Dead Reckoning, from January 27 to 31, a thriller written by Eric Chappell, followed by Gail Young’s comedy Cheshire Cats, from March 17 to 21.

The season ends in May with Basinful of the Briny which will see TLT return to those nostalgic days of vintage family holidays, with the missing episode in Leslie Sands’ classic Seaside Trilogy.

Information on tickets and details of all TLT productions are available from the Box Office number on 01204 655619, 01942 886908 or tlt.org.uk.
