A YOUNG woman is “almost certain” to lose the sight in her left eye after being hit with a stiletto heel in a fight on the dancefloor of a Farnworth pub.

Katrina Coucill, aged 27, was attacked after a row between two women and a man on Sunday in Ye Olde Three Crowns pub in Higher Market Street, Farnworth.

During the fight, which took place on the pub’s dancefloor, a woman is believed to have aimed a kick at Ms Coucill, catching her in the eye with her stiletto.

Ms Coucill was taken to hospital, where she was treated for a serious eye injury.

Police have now confirmed she will probably lose the sight in her eye.

Ms Coucill’s sister, Sian, has taken to Facebook to say that she is angry and upset about the attack.

She said: “(There’s) some evil vicious people in this world. Hope they catch you, you lowlife scumbags!”

Sian’s friend Caroline Mulligan replied to her post saying: “Don't let it get to you — emotions are high.

“I know it's hard at the minute but try and rise above it.”

Two women, aged 21 and 28, and a man aged 28, were arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm.

They have been bailed until October 22.

A police spokesman said: “The victim is almost certain to lose the sight in that eye as a result of the attack.”

Det Sgt Patrick Wood added: “From what we have been told, we believe a woman was part of this group and she kicked out at the victim.

"She was wearing high heeled shoes and it looks like the point of the heel has made contact with her eye.

“With it being a Bank Holiday, the pub was very busy and it is likely someone would have seen what happened.

"I would appeal to anyone who was there and saw what happened or indeed those involved to contact police.”
