My apologies for not reading Mr Johnston's letter re Moor Lane Bus Station.

However I agree with Mr W D Collier about Moor Lane being a main bus station.

The Ribble bus company used Moor Lane as their bus station in the 1950's. The No 126 ran from Bolton to Chorley, using Chorley Old Road, so this was a regular bus for our family to catch when we had been on the market. Also the Express buses used Moor Lane, the X61 to Blackpool was well used by the people of Bolton. During Bolton holidays, large queues formed for the X61, but there was never too long to wait, for as soon as one bus filled up, an empty bus was brought from the stand to replace it.

Bolton Transport buses used Trinity Street as a terminus for, I cannot remember all the routes, but the Blackburn Road and Chorley Old Road Buses went from there. The No 19 now the No 519 was very handy for us as we had a direct route from Montserrat to very near Bridgeman Street baths, where most of our family learned how to swim at Bridgeman Swimming Club.

I am not sure, but I think the Walkden buses went from outside the old Grammar School in Great Moor Street.
