MANY people in Bolton keep their fish in tiny goldfish bowls.
What’s wrong with that I hear you say? Well, we wouldn’t dream of keeping puppies or kittens imprisoned in a tiny space for their entire lives, so why is it considered acceptable to confine fish in tiny glass bowls.
Studies have shown that goldfish are intelligent and can even like or dislike individual humans in their household.
They have large oxygen needs and a high waste output and the traditional goldfish bowl is simply inappropriate for them.
Goldfish deserve our compassion and respect as much as any other animal.
If you currently keep your fish confined in one of these tiny bowls please buy a larger tank. Your goldfish will feel like a caged lion returned to the plains of Africa.
