THE report “GP’s Boxing Day Opening Success” (January 16) and comments by Dr Barry Silvert, of NHS Bolton Clinical Commissioning Group, stated that 89 people had seen their GP on Boxing Day.
I understand the need to prevent non-urgent cases from visiting the accident and emergency department at the Royal Bolton Hospital by making facilities available elsewhere.
It would, however, have been more helpful if the report had informed the public how many of those people really needed to seen on Boxing Day and could not have waited to see their GP the day after, Friday, which was a normal working day. R Swindells Bolton
