I READ the report regarding the protest outside the proposed mosque in Blackburn Road and I agree that if you don’t like Bolton you should go back to where you came from.

I am talking about our so-called EDL visitors who came from across the North west to provoke and intimidate the Asian community who live in Astley Bridge.

I believe that further consultation should have been carried out before the project was approved, but the people of Bolton are capable of their own legal objections without the far-right individuals using it as an excuse to insult a person's belief or colour.

The counter-protest group would have been better off ignoring them. Counter-protests give them credibility which is something they do not deserve.

I resent my council tax being used to pay for police officers who would be better used fighting crime.

It is interesting how both groups have merchandise for sale, which indicates someone is making money out of all this.

I have lived in Halliwell all my life and have never been advised by an Asian to “get out of our area”.

Walk down Halliwell Road on a Friday or a Saturday and you will find it’s the white people outside the pubs creating the disturbances.

That site has been derelict for about 15 years; there are three churches within 300 yards of the building.

Most of the people who will be using the mosque were born in Britain; it will be funded by the community, so every argument they have is invalid.

I advise these patriots should concentrate on getting a job and, if they want to live somewhere that is totally 100 per cent white British and Christian, try the Falklands or Gibraltar.

When was the last time they went to church?
