THERE was bound to be outrage about the BNP fielding a candidate here in next month's local elections.
Unfortunately, the candidature in the Tonge with The Haulgh ward prompts the racists to step into the limelight (you know, those people who start critical sentences with "I'm no racist but.") and stirs up a variety of emotions in most people.
However, at the simplest level, it's good for democracy and the best way to show support or disgust is to exercise your vote. Hopefully, there will be a much better turnout this year as a result.
