IN reply to Mr John Monaghan, Hon Alderman and his principle that persons should be made to vote.

I do not vote and I will not vote. I have no faith, or trust, in present day politicians, irrespective of which party they belong to.

This somewhat cynical outlook as to the value of politicians in general has taken many years to develop, and is based upon deeds, and feats of the past and present.

The lies, the broken promises that were the original carrot to obtain self-power and wealth, the shady dealings and dishonesty which has incarcerated many.

The man in the street knows what is wrong but has no say. He is not asked, but dictated to. A promise with a smile is false and without intention.

This country is deteriorating at an alarming rate. Crime is not reduced but is on the increase and paints a frightening picture for the future.

There is no room at the inn but no one has the bottle or the power in any party to put a foot down. This may be due to the fact that they are frightened themselves, which may be for another reason.

Common sense now has no place in the English language and is looked on as non-politically correct.

The only person I would ever vote for is myself. If I made a promise I would keep it. If I could not keep it, I would not make it.
