AS reported, I see the gas holders in Spa Road/Gas Street are being demolished.

I wonder what the future intended use of this large area of land is destined to be? Would it not be good if Bolton council acquired it for use as a large free carpark on the outskirts of the town centre to encourage shoppers and help regenerate the town centre?

Many of you will remember the large area of land adjoining Queens Park which provided free parking many years ago before it fell prey to commercialisation.

While on the subject, why build a large office block next to the future Bolton interchange when there is so much vacant office space already in Bolton? One would have thought a car park there instead would have been of benefit to Bolton commuters. In both cases this would benefit the people of Bolton rather than thinking along commercial lines.
