SEVERAL years ago, because my children and grandchildren had spent so many happy hours in the museum and art gallery, I decided to become a 'Friend' — for an annual subscription of a mere £10.

Last Friday I, and many other members of the 'Friends of Bolton Museum and Art Gallery', enjoyed lunch, and lively entertainment by The Houghton Weavers at Great Lever and Farnworth Golf Club.

Soon there will be day trips on offer, all well organised and to very interesting places. My particular favourites last year were the day in Hull and a lovely sunny trip to Chirk Castle.

Any profit 'The Friends' make from membership and days out helps fund acquisitions for the museum — one of Bolton's big assets.

If, like me, you are grateful for the pleasure the museum gives to your family please do show your appreciation and join 'The Friends' and share in whatever activities you are able to.
