WHATEVER happened to the famous British sense of fair play?
Where once we had respect for anyone’s opposing views now it’s become commonplace to threaten them with violence. Anonymously, of course.
MPs of all political parties routinely seem to get the most vile abuse on social media, sometimes accompanied by violent threats. And all they have done is to present an opinion with which someone else didn’t agree.
I know that social media has removed the stop button for many people when it comes to airing their more extreme views, but physical threats? Really, there is no excuse.
After MP Jo Cox’s death last year you would have thought this was a wake-up call for those dishing out the abuse on a regular basis but not so. They still seem to have a feeling of entitlement about posting disgusting statements I’m pretty sure they wouldn’t make in person. Just grow up.
