IT’S good to see troubled Britney Spears looking more like her old self and back in the charts with a clever tune.

She’s only 26, but in the last decade the troubled American golden girl has already packed in two marriages and two divorces, had two children and lost them in a custody battle, all while demonstrating some very humiliating behaviour in the full glare of the spotlight.

The phrase “too much, too soon” comes to mind, but what else can you expect from a youngster with success at 16, who quickly got lost in the hype?

It’s also unlikely all her troubles are over because she strikes me as someone who courts bad boys and a dodgy reputation.

She is, though, obviously talented and a survivor.

Presumably, by the miracle of hair extensions, she’s got back her trademark long blonde locks after shaving her head, she’s toned and healthy-looking and her private life is starting to gain some semblance of what passes for normality in Tinseltown.

Her latest hit is Piece of Me, which has a pop at the paparazzi, but might just as easily be aimed at the sharks who feast on young stars.

Let’s hope the future improves for her one more time.
