LEFT, right and centre, politicians of all persuasions seem to be at it, milking the archaic expenses system for all it’s worth. And then they have the hypocrisy to call each other for doing so.

You can reform the system — and it must be reformed — but can we ever trust these people again?

Oh, yes, we know they have not done anything illegal, but even these rip-off artists must know that it is morally wrong.

To be a politician, you have to have a thick skin. But some of them could give skin-graphs to rhinos.

Compare their like with that of Jack Jones, freedom fighter, war hero, union giant, and pensioners’ champion, who died last Tuesday.

A Lancashire lad, born in a humble terraced house in Liverpool, Jack Jones never forgot his roots. He became a powerful man, who used that power to fight for the people he represented — never for personal gain.

He was truly a Great Briton, and will be sadly missed.
