I wrote recently that we are damned if we do and damned if we don’t.

Look at the situation in Iraq. In our mind, we liberated it from Saddam but now we are being accused of occupation. If we stand by, as in Darfor, we are accused of watching on while millions die.

The Arab world is one of the richest regions on earth. It has masses of land and mineral wealth, so does it need the West to sort its problems?

Both the Palestinians and the Israelis are unreasonable in their demand, and both are equally liable to break any agreement.

Like the Labour party and the Conservatives, the Lib-Dems are no better.

It is not our problem. We have issues closer to home that need to be resolved and talked about, however politically unacceptable.

So, yes, Mr Davis, should you not be looking to home issues? You have been elected to represent local people on local issues, so get your mind on the job, and sort out the roads. Let the Middle East sort itself out.

For the record, I have spent the last 26 years in the Middle East. I know what each party is like. The truth is that they are both as bad as each other.
