Ed Miliband warns that the British consumers face increased energy costs to meet the cost of building new nuclear power stations. Are the new power stations to be owned by the British people? Or by German companies like RWE npower and E.ON, or by the French EDF, or the Spanish owned Scottish Power? These companies are ripping off the people of this country and Miliband twiddles his thumbs. He is as much use to the British energy consumer as a chocolate poker.

Our energy costs 30pc more than in France and Germany, so it is no wonder that we struggle to compete with them — the French and Germans would not tolerate this situation.

Any new power stations that are built using subsidy from British taxpayers and consumers should be owned by them and never again handed over to a bunch of foreign parasites.

We are energy rich, coal, oil and gas are all in abundance in our territorial area and we should not be dependant on foreign supplies. The British taxpayers funded gas and oil exploration in the North sea and should be seeing the benefits.
