THIS is a quick note to the totally ignorant drivers who seem to have blinkers on whilst driving down Plodder Lane towards the Shakespeare pub in Farnworth.
Every morning, my daughters and I try to cross this road to get to their primary school, and every morning we have to risk life and limb crossing between queuing traffic as they won’t stop and let us cross, avoiding drivers who feel it is their God-given right to go on the wrong side of the road to turn up Almond Road, and generally trying not to get killed.
We have to cross here or travel a quarter of a mile in either direction to get to a pelican crossing or a school patrol.
All I ask is for a bit of courtesy. If you see a very frazzled mum and her two children standing by the side of the road — stop and let us cross, we won’t delay your journey by more than two seconds, and imagine the warm, fuzzy feeling you’ll get from a five-year-old giving you a thumbs up.
