SO, how many of our soldiers must continue dying for the corrupt Government in Afghanistan? We were told our soldiers were fighting to bring democracy to Afghanistan, and it is essential that we saw these elections to the end. Now what do we find?

After everyone has said that the elections were corrupt, all of a sudden we send congratulations to someone who we know to be corrupt and is now our friend.

Is this man really fit for the job? I know this is a travesty as these elections were corrupt. I think it’s time to bring our brave soldiers home, they’ve done their best. It is a pity politicians around the world haven’t done a good enough job, it is they who have failed.

The entire region is a corrupt one. An interesting fact I read is that, because of corruption, 8,000 people a day in India are dying of starvation because of officials misappropriating aid money. The world gives India a great deal of aid, but it does beg the question why. India gives Afghanistan economic aid to the tune of $1.2bn. If they cannot feed their people, why are they giving so much aid to Afghanistan? One of the reasons it seems is to keep the Afghan rebels causing trouble within Pakistan — it is just crazy.

The UK Government is committed to raising aid to 0.7 GDP by 2015, the Conservatives likewise are committed to it and so are Liberal Democrats, but I think we should start to look more closely at all the countries we give aid to.

Let us not forget India has the atomic bomb. Are we seriously subsidising a country that can waste money on atomic bombs, but yet still can’t feed its people, with or without our aid?

I am beginning to believe the world has gone mad, if it was ever sane.
