ONE has followed the comments published in The Bolton News, critical of the design of the multi-storey car park construction.
While the creation of a car park with access from Topp Way has merit, its design and mass in this location is not acceptable, and Bolton Civic Trust supports the criticism of Cllr John Walsh OBE and others reported in your columns.
We are now confronted with an inappropriate building in design and mass which, being in an elevated position, towers above the elegant Georgian row of St George’s Road. The mass of the construction must be very oppressive for the occupants of neighbouring properties.
We feel sure that the majority of councillors and the public will share this criticism for the adverse impact the construction has upon St George’s Conservation Area.
