MAY I thank most sincerely all the people of Bolton who donated money and items to our forces Christmas Box Appeal.
The Royal Artillery Association and Bolton le Moors Rotary Club, in a joint effort and due to your support and generosity, were able to send 700 boxes to our soldiers who will be serving in Afghanistan over Christmas.
Special boxes were also sent to the nurses and staff at the base hospital.
Each box was labelled with number, rank and name, making every box a personal gift.
The boxes left Bolton on Wednesday, November 18, and confirmation was received they had arrived on Monday, December 7.
We intend to continue with the appeal, being that our regiments rotate throughout the year.
It is hoped we will be able to make a further delivery mid-summer 2010.
