I HAVE just been on The Bolton News website having a look at what has happened since we left two weeks ago.

My family and I emigrated to Australia on the November 28, hopefully for good! I can honestly say, due to bureaucratic imbeciles that we vote into power in the first place, the Cutacre project was going to be sold-off and altered, no matter what anybody had to say. The writing, as they say, “was on the wall”. Unfortunately, it’s not about what is right or what is wrong, it is purely and simply about money!

To add insult to injury yet again I have just read about the 1,000 homes that are going to be built just off Newbrook Road. I am not about stopping new development, it creates jobs etc, but where do we stop? It’s just like going back to Turton Heights, Bromley Cross — money, money, money. We are, without doubt, selling off our heritage and everything that we stand for.

Correct me if I am wrong, but how much gold reserves do we have? How much are we in debt?

I suppose we could all grumble, trying to put the world to right, but no matter where you turn somebody is lining their pockets at the expense of others, legally or not!

I just hope that Australia has more to offer to me and my family. I’m sure it’s much the same story here, only I hope not as bad.
