ONE of the best ways to help jobless young people is to give them work placements.
So, it was heartening to see that Bolton building company HeightVale teamed up with national charity Rathbone to give youngsters valuable experience working on sites.
Giving them hands-on opportunites and the chance to spend time with qualified journeymen really makes a difference.
The family firm knows this and is prepared to open its workplace to young people. Perhaps in 2010 other local employers will show the same good sense and compassion, and invest in our future workforce in the same way.
