I RECENTLY received two leaflets from the main political parties, focusing on the state of the roads in Chew Moor and Lostock.
Following the bad weather, the road surface along Chew Moor Road and St John’s Road was in a disgraceful state. I was glad to see that both parties were taking this seriously.
The first leaflet came from the Conservatives. I noted that Susan Williams, the candidate from Trafford, was pictured inspecting roads in Westhoughton which I’d say were clearly in Chew Moor and not Westhoughton.
As a resident of Chew Moor, I was reassured to know that she is familiar with her adopted home.
The second leaflet came the day after. I was delighted to see that the local Labour Party candidate for May’s elections, Karen Lawrinson, has tackled the problem head-on and secured assurances from Bolton Council that St John’s Road is a priority and will be resurfaced.
It was good to see that local democracy is working. Thank you Ms Lawrinson!
