I AM writing after I recently needed to visit the Raikes Lane household waste and recycling centre.

This was the first time that I had visited the site and I want to use the letters page to commend the staff on their friendly, efficient and helpful service.

The site itself is user-friendly and well laid out. The containers clearly marked and all kinds of materials can be recycled, from fluorescent tubes to car batteries.

As a regular reader of The Bolton News, I know that the letters pages are sometimes used to criticise services provided by the council. However, it is also important that we take time to give compliments and a pat on the back to people who are doing a good job. I am a grateful resident Name and address supplied
