HIDDEN away in council minutes across Greater Manchester, with no opportunity for public debate, are the full details of Labour’s latest plans for a Manchester city region.
The details are scant. Time for public debate has for some reason been severely restricted and, as ever, the devil is in the detail.
Although the title of the glossy consultation paper is, Greater Manchester City Region, within the fine print it becomes Manchester City Region.
Perhaps this is just a printing error but experience tells me to doubt it.
For this reason, Bolton Conservatives have and will continue to oppose any threat to Bolton’s independence.
We have made it clear to Labour’s leadership that this issue must be brought before the public — not restricted to meetings between councillors in town halls.
Cllr John Walsh OBE Conservative group leader Bolton Council
