IT was interesting to read the article in The Bolton News on Wednesday, February 24, regarding, “Town Losing Its Green Spaces”.
I totally agree with the writer and am disappointed that Bolton Council is allowing this happen.
The property in question, “Ardoyne”, was a magnificent house.
The house has deliberately been left to become derelict, attracting vandals and thieves.
Developers have been given permission to build a block of flats and several detached houses on the land.
I think it is so important that our heritage is kept intact, but the council obviously doesn’t. They couldn’t even protect Clarence Street College.
The Planning Committee don’t consider heritage — all it can see are pound signs.
Wake up, smell the coffee, and listen to the people of Bolton for a change — you should have listened when they told you to keep the Market Hall as it was. What a shambles that is now!
I would like to see a more diverse planning committee, including residents of Bolton, who are able to make important decisions relating to the town they live in — not just elected members.
Can this be considered?
