FULL marks to whoever organised the recent public relations exercise surrounding Gary Neville’s proposed “eco-friendly” house in Harwood.

This is Gary’s third attempt at turning Harwood in to a green oasis. The first attempt, a barn conversion off Bradshaw Road, realised a tidy profit.

The second, turning a single storey unobtrusive derelict barn into a 12 bedroomed mansion complete with swimming pool that is visible from the other side of Bolton, can hardly be called carbon neutral.

Gary Neville is no modern day philanthropist, he is a multi- millionaire property developer, and to allow him to ruin acres of green belt land would be to the detriment of the local community and visitors to the area.

A 50m wind turbine in the centre of the development will further spoil the natural beauty of the green belt countryside.

In light of previous controversial planning applications handled by Bolton Planning Department, it is vital that residents and anyone who is against building on green belt land shows their objections to the further violation of our countryside through all available channels urgently.
