I REFER to the article "Boy, 5, in HIV test ordeal", (Bolton Evening News, August 2).
I have to say from the outset that I totally agree with the family's demands for a crackdown on prostitution in the Great Lever area.
I represent this area and I receive more calls about prostitutes and drug users than any other issue.
It is completely unacceptable that the children of Great Lever are put in such danger because of the irresponsible behaviour of prostitutes and their "customers", and I dare say that a lot of the people who use such services do not even live in, or care about, Great Lever.
The council and its partners must take more action not onlyto control, but also to stop residential areas from being used for the vice trade.
It is unacceptable that we allow this to continue, and I can assure the family concerned and all the residents of Great Lever that I will be doing all I can to get the necessary authorities to sit up and listen to our concerns and do something about it.
I think some people need to be reminded that prostitution is illegal!
Mohammad Idrees, (Councillor, Great Lever Ward)
