ANY changes to the way we elect MPs could have a profound impact on all of us. Despite this, the debate on reform has failed to capture public imagination.
One reason for this apparent disinterest is the pros and cons of the alternative vote system may be very simple for a great many people, but worries about jobs and cuts in public services are much bigger issues.
Next Thursday, there will be an important referendum on voting reform. However, the local elections held on the same day may prove to be a much bigger referendum on the coalition government.
