WE need to adopt the American Penal system. Make parents legally responsible for the behaviour of their children up to the age of 16 years as in America.
Our courts must ignore the outdated views of Justice Secretary Ken Clark and, regardless of cost, give criminals appropriate punishments, e.g.
five, 10, 15 years in prison and as in America, that means just that — where the public protection is the first priority and not the spin of politicians, where the police are known as “law-enforcement officers”.
Finally, criminals in America, fear the police, and prison punishment.
I wonder why? Unlike our criminals, who have no fear of police or imprisonment and treat our prisons as two-star guest houses.
But, our Nanny state lets out convicted criminals who commit further crimes.
Wake up, Justice Secretary and Home Secretary. Our people have a right to be protected but you are failing them being more concerned with the protection of criminals than the honest, working public. Shame on you both.
