RE, the story about actress Maxine Peake backing a cancer support centre (The Bolton News September 7).
I am a breast cancer patient being treated at the Royal Bolton Hospital.
I note from this article that health bosses say they cannot afford the cancer support facility and pointed to initiatives already under way, such as information prescriptions, where specially trained nurses give information directly to patients.
I have asked two doctors and two specialist nurses about these information prescriptions and none of them know anything about them! Perhaps there is a real need for the cancer support centre, if only to inform the medical profession of the initiatives they are supposed to be delivering.
