SUFFERING a stroke is not an automatic death sentence, but it can be.
Speed is the key to dramatically improving chances of survival and recovery when someone has a stroke.
Now, Bolton Wanderers’ goalkeeper Adam Bogdan, pictured, is backing the Act FAST campaign to raise awareness of the signs and symptoms of a stroke because the town has one of the worst records in the country for early deaths from strokes.
He says: “Every 90 minutes — which is the time it takes to play a football match — someone will have a stroke in Greater Manchester.
Everyone should know how to spot the signs of stroke and help save a life.”
FAST stands for Face, Arm, Speech and Time to call 999 as stroke symptoms can include a drooping mouth, the inability to lift both arms and unclear speech.
