I WOULD like to heap praise upon the writer of “Let’s park bus lanes elsewhere” (February 13).
He or she tells it as it is.
The only purpose behind bus lanes in Bolton is to create congestion, increase income and sneak in congestion charging.
Yes 20 years or so ago the bus terminus in Bolton was busy all day. At rush hour times, buses must of left every few minutes and the roads contained a great number of buses.
Now, even at the height of the rush hour, we just do not see the number of buses on Bolton’s roads that justify the number of bus lanes we already have. Why there are not more crashes at junctions where motorists have to dive into a 10-metre gap to enable them to turn left, I do not know?
We either have to have more buses on our roads to justify the bus lanes or fewer bus only lanes.
