IT is becoming increasingly obvious that without a large increase in growth, the Coalition is going to miss its deficit reduction targets.

That is not to say that Labour has got it right.

They accuse the Coalition of cutting too deep and too soon, whereas even deeper cuts are required in expenditure. At the present time the cuts amount to 11 per cent of the planned total.

To get out of this mess requires growth of three per cent plus in the next three years. This has never been achieved by the economy and without supply side stimulus on a large scale it has little chance.

It is with regret that I have to accuse a Conservativeled government of not understanding the basic economics of how business functions.

Small firms are the lifeblood of the economy and they must be given space to expand without the stifling effect of Human Resources and Employment legislation.

Too many laws have been passed in this country. The Coalition aim is for every new law passed, one has to be scrapped. They can’t even manage this meagre target.
