MARGARET Thatcher, the most influential postwar Prime Minister, Cllr Martyn Cox? (“Don’t give way to hate”, March 17).

The 1945 government of Clement Attlee crafted the post-war settlement and created the Welfare State, which Thatcher did her level best to wreck.

Messrs Cameron and Blair merely perpetuated her values and intentions.

Indeed. the Blair governments have some claim to being the best Tory governments of modern times. Not only did he perpetuate many of the values of the Thatcher Reich but, in doing it, he all but destroyed the Labour Party I joined in 1970.

My hating muscles get plenty of exercise.
