SIX more young Brits die in Afghanistan. Add them to the list: 404 Brits, 54 NATO, 1,864 USA, and an estimated 10,000 Afghan civilians since 2006.
Add to these the countless numbers who have suffered life-changing injuries and tell me we were right to get involved in this futile, unwinnable war. Tell me that it is right that our troops should still be there.
Do politicians ever read history? In 1842, some 9,000 men were all but wiped out in the Kyber Pass during the First Anglo-Afghan War.
During the second war of 1880, more heavy losses were suffered. When will they ever learn? Bring our troops home now!
Yes, we must get involved in peacekeeping from time to time, but only as a part of a NATO force, made up of proportionate numbers from member states.
