I WOULD like to support Mr O’Connor (The Bolton News, April 5) in his plea for the restoration of corporal punishment.
In the book of Proverbs, chapter 13, verse 24, we read: “A father who spares the rod hates his son, but one who loves him keeps him in order.”
Surely there we have Biblical authority for corporal punishment — let any clever Biblical critic try to argue that it does not mean that and he’ll get a right reprimand from me. If teachers were allowed to wield the cane, slipper or strap, we would have less disruption in our schools.
